Farquhar Watch Co. is run by me, and me alone — Craig Farquhar, from Buckie on the rugged coast of North East Scotland.
It’s a part of the world shaped by the sea. Rugged coastlines, beautiful beaches, working harbours and, a little further inland, some of the most incredible mountain landscapes Scotland has to offer. That environment — and a career spent working around and beneath the ocean — has had a huge influence on what Farquhar has become.
For the past 14 years, I’ve worked in the ROV industry, both offshore and onshore, with much of my career closely connected to the commercial diving and subsea industries.
But outside of that career, I’ve always had a passion for watches, engineering, design and making things with my own hands.
I am, fundamentally, a MAKER.
And that's exactly how I approach Farquhar Watch Co.
Every watch starts with me. The initial idea, sketches and design work. The CAD drawings. 3D models. Blender renders. Prototypes. Testing. Refinement. Assembly and final inspection.
As much as practically possible is done in-house, by me.
There are inevitably certain highly specialised components — such as dials, indices and other microscopic precision parts — that I occasionally subcontract to specialist manufacturers with the equipment and expertise required to produce them properly.
But the design, development and character of every Farquhar watch remains mine from beginning to end.
There isn't a design department.
There isn't a marketing team.
There isn't a production department.
There's just me.
When you send Farquhar Watch Co. a message, I'm the person who replies. When you order a watch, I'm the person who handles your order. And before a finished watch carrying my name leaves for its new owner, it has been personally handled, checked and approved by me.
Away from watches and the subsea world, I'm a husband to Claire and dad to our three kids, Frankie, Bryce and Rosie.
Farquhar isn't a huge watch company pretending to be small.
It's a genuinely small Scottish watch company with one person behind it — designing, building and obsessing over every detail.
